How does it work?

Geothermal systems work by moving heat, not generating it through combustion. For every Kilowatt of electricity that is used, 3.5 to 5 units of clean, renewable heat from the ground are transferred to the building. That means that a geothermal system is 350% - 500% efficient.

The Earth absorbs almost half of all the suns energy and remains at an average annual temperature of 40 – 50 deg F depending on location and soil conditions. Working with a specially designed underground loop system, a geothermal system utilizes this constant temperature to exchange energy between your property.

In the winter, heat transfer fluid inside the loop absorbs heat from the earth and carries it to the indoor system. Here the heat is extracted and compressed to a higher temperature and warms the air and/or radiant floors etc... In the summer, the system reverses and expels heat to the cooler earth via the same ground loop system. This heat exchange process is not only natural, but is a highly efficient way to create an exceptionally comfortable interior climate.
